An aardwolf ("earth wolf") isn't an animal you see often, so encountering one on a nature drive counted as "lucky". It looks a bit like a bat-eared fox with a fluffier tail but has the posture and walk of a hyena. Stranger still, it's apparently an insect eater! We had a really good sighting of it, as it sniffed around the veld in the late afternoon, before disappearing.
