How to Make Molded Candy (Wedding Mints or Fudge)
- 1
Cream cheese and powdered sugar are an easy way to start
Mix your ingredients to make a dough the consistency of play dough. For a mint recipe, use two packages of cream cheese and two 2 lb bags of powdered sugar. Mix this in a heavy mixer because it will be thick. Add a few drops of flavoring (1/4 tsp of mint, clove, cinnamon ...) and a drop of food coloring. It's easy to make the color darker, hard to lighten it up. It' s fun to mix colors as well. Start with one drop of color at a time. Knead in more powdered sugar if the dough is still sticky. - 2). Another recipe for candy molds is one can of cake frosting and one cup of peanut butter. Add two bags of powdered sugar and knead it until it's smooth. This is a little harder to color because it doesn't start out white. Chocolate frosting and peanut butter are an easy fudge recipe and make pretty chocolate candies.
- 3). Another recipe is to take a can of frosting and mix it with a small (7oz) jar of marshmallow crème. Add the two bags of powdered sugar and more if needed. It's fun to mix flavors of frosting with the peanut butter or marshmallow crème and come up with your unique flavor.

Sprinkle each cavity with sugar for easy release
Once you have your recipe made, let it set a little bit while you prepare your molds. It won't hurt it to dry out some.
Make sure your molds are clean.
Cover them with powdered sugar.
Sprinkle each cavity with granulated sugar before you start filling. - 5
Fill each cavity level to the tray
Press your candy into the cavity of the mold and try to keep the filling level. If you are making flowers, you may want to place a contrasting colored center in the mold first. Don't press the center into the mold or cover it with powdered sugar first. When you press the rest of the candy into the mold they will meld together. - 6
Tap the counter to release the candies
Once your mold is filled, turn it over and tap it on the table or counter. It always seems that the first set of candy sticks to the mold. If this happens, make sure your recipe is not sticky.
Knead in more powdered sugar.
Make sure you sprinkled granulated sugar into the mold cavity first.
