- 1). Rent an office location in Pennsylvania. In order to become a bail bondsman, you must have an office in the state. The office must have a telephone line in the bondsman's name, and there must be a person there who can receive legal papers for the bondsman.
- 2). Obtain a Professional Bondsman License Application from the state Insurance Department. Call the department at 717-787-3840, or download the form from the Insurance Department's website.
- 3). Complete the license application. It requires such information as your name, social security number, home address, business address, employment history, criminal history, family court history, and experience as a bail bondsman.
- 4). Have the application form notarized.
- 5). Submit the application, with the $100 filing fee, to the Insurance Department.
