If you are a tourist planning to visit India, the Taj Mahal and the silent valley of Kerala,you would most probably be the top two items on your itinerary. Well,just don't bother for that. The spectacular Taj Mahal, which mughal emporer Shah Jahan built for his wife Mumtaj Mahal and Kerala, which is also known as 'God's own country', are the most visited tourist places in India. In this particular article I'm going to give l some insight about the places that you should visit in when you are in and around Kerala.

Kerala is considered a paradise for tourists with its amazing natural beauty, cultural heritage,silent valley,and hospitality of its own. It has the ability to make one feel at home- no matter which part of the world you have come from. For your convinience, I have tabulated the places- you can pick the places according to your tourist interests.

The Beaches: Bordered by the Great Arabian Sea to the West, Kerala has a coastline of around 600km (370miles). One can find beautiful fine sandy beaches through the entire length of the state. Among the countless beaches in Kerala, Kovalam near Trivandrum(capital of Kerala) is the most famous one. Other major beaches are Alappuzha beach, Nattika and Vadanappally in Thrissur, Varkala in Kollam, Cherai and Fort Kochi in Ernakulam, Kappad and Beypore in Kozhikode, Muzhappilangad in Kannur, and Bekal fort associated with its beach once under emperor Tipu Sultan in Kasargod.

The backwaters: Lying parallel to the Malabar Coast or the Arabian Sea coast, the backwaters of Kerala are very famous and amaging. A ride on the famous houseboats (Kettuvallams) through the brackish lagoons that form the backwaters can be an experience that you will never forget. The network of Kerala's backwaters includes five major lakes such as the Vembanad Lake and Ashtamudi Lake. There are many canals connecting these lakes. The snake boat race is held during August/ September is famous.

Hill Stations: The Eastern side of Kerala is bordered by the Nilgiri mountain ranges. There are many mountains, forests, national parks, gorges and valleys in this region. The highest peak in the region goes up to a height of 2,923m (over 8,000 feet) above sea level. The few known hill stations in the region are Munnar, Thekkady, Vagamon and Wayanad. All these regions are abundant with a variety of rare and exotic flora and fauna in silent valley.
Accommodation for tourists is never a problem in Kerala but language sometime matters. There are hundreds of resorts and hotels all over Kerala which provide hospitality to tourists.
