    • 3). Work with your vet to create a treatment plan. Your doctor will run blood tests and take X-rays to make a diagnosis. Antibiotics will need to be administered to eliminate the infection of the heart valve. A dog that experiences abnormal heart rhythms may need a medication to take indefinitely.

    • 4). Monitor your canine closely. When bringing your dog home, monitor his behavior closely. Any signs of shortness of breath or rapid breathing should be reported to his medical provider.

    • 5). Limit physical activity. A dog that suffers from endocarditis should have restricted exercise. Always keep your canine on a leash to prevent excessive roaming. This can assist in preventing future complications.
