For adults, Easter might be all about the bank holiday weekend, but for children it's all about the Easter eggs.
However, rather than just stay at home scoffing chocolate why not make the most of the long weekend by taking a trip to a National Trust property.
Here you and partner can get your fix of art and culture while your children run riot on an Easter egg hunt.
Better still, combine this hunt with a stay in one of the popular Manchester and Edinburgh hotels and make it part of your sightseeing.
Manchester hotels are a great opportunity for parents seeking somewhere exciting to spend the Easter Weekend.
With plenty of great attractions for the children there is also ample shopping for the mothers, while fathers might be tempted to take a tour of the Old Trafford Football ground.
You might recognise Lyme Park in nearby Stockport; it's where Mr Darcy met Elizabeth in the BBC adaption of Pride and Prejudice.
During Easter weekend they'll be a huge Easter egg hunt sponsored by Cadburys as well as face-painters and a special play-area for the children.
Afterwards, escape to the park for a picnic and on the edge of the Peak District you'll feel miles away from anywhere.
In the Georgian Manor house of Dunham Massey a huge Easter egg is being planned for the bank holiday and will include plenty of games for the little ones and face-painting.
This house contains Britain's largest Winter Garden and adults will find several salacious scandals surrounding the original owners: for instance, an Earl that married a circus performer and then wrote a book on the desirability of divorce! In Edinburgh, another Georgian attraction is planning its own Easter egg hunt, Gladstone's Land is a house that dates all the way back to 1550 and was the home of a wealthy guild-officer for a while, with the first-floor dedicated to how a wealthy family such as his would have lived.
On Easter weekend, Cadburys and the National Trust are sponsoring an egg hunt around the property so keep your eyes peeled for the Easter Bunny's loot! Gladstone's Land is situated in the trendy Lawnmarket area which is home to many of the best hotels in Edinburgh, try the Ten Hill Place hotel which is situated close by.
If you're looking for a break from all the excitement explore the 18th century, Green Room which showcases the changes in technology that made lives more manageable.
At 7 Charlotte Square, children can get their face painted like the Easter Bunny and search the nooks and crannies of an old Georgian townhouse for chocolate treasures.
Meanwhile, adults can stroll around and look at the old-style furniture and interiors in this house which was conceived as a paradigm of the Georgian ideal.
