How to Adjust the Taskbar Size in WinXP
- 1). Locate an empty area on your Windows XP taskbar where no buttons or icons exist. Right-click the area. A menu will appear containing options.
- 2). Locate the "Lock the Taskbar" option. Click that option if you see a check mark next to it. This will remove the check mark and allow you to resize the taskbar.
- 3). Move your cursor over the edge of the task bar that is closest to the center of the screen. For example, if the taskbar is on the bottom of the screen, move the cursor over the top of the taskbar. When the mouse cursor changes to two arrows, click and hold the left mouse button.
- 4). Drag the taskbar while holding down the left mouse button. Drag the taskbar toward the center of the screen to make it larger or away from the center of the screen to make it smaller.
- 5). Release the mouse button when the taskbar reaches the desired size.
- 6). Locate an empty area on your taskbar where no buttons or icons exist. Right-click the area. A menu will appear containing options.
- 7). Locate the "Lock the Taskbar" option and click it to place a check mark next to it. XP will lock the taskbar and prevent you from accidentally resizing it.
