Lollipop & Roses Prom Theme Ideas
- A sweet keepsake for prom night could be a rose-shaped lollipop. You can make the lollipops in the colors that match the theme. Sticking an arrangement of them into a piece of foam will create a centerpiece; you can even give it away at the end of the evening.
- Purchasing fresh roses can be very expensive, so consider making your own. Get the prom committee together and have a rose making party. Scatter the paper roses on tables, tape to walls, or place in a clear bowl for centerpieces. As an alternative to making origami roses, you can make them out of crepe paper. Take a piece of crepe paper and cut it, so that it is twice the size of the rose you want to make. Fold the piece of crepe paper in half and then roll it up loosely. Pinch the side that is opposite from the fold to create a base and attach tightly rolled green crepe paper as a stem using a piece of tape. Instructions for making origami roses may be found in our resource section.
- Scattering rose petals on tables adds an elegance to any event. The rose petals don't need to be real. You can make your own rose petals by cutting them out of crepe paper, or you can purchase freeze dried rose petals. If you have a King and Queen at your prom, you can give away little mesh bags of the rose petals for the guests to toss at them after the crowning ceremony.
- To promote your prom, you can tape little strips of paper onto a lollipop and pass them out to students who are allowed to attend your prom. The invitation itself helps to perpetuate the theme you want to create; it will be something students appreciate. An alternative to the lollipop could be to make your own roses with crepe paper and tape the invitation onto the rose. Either way, the theme is established, and the invitation will be appreciated.
