Are you an ardent HBO fan? Well, I am. And you would be too as soon as you hear that a blockbuster movie, 'Lincoln', is coming on HBO India this month. Awesome, isn't it? What's more awesome is the fact that this movie is an Oscar winner.

In fact, this movie got nominated for twelve Academy Awards last year including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Director. The great thing is that it was the movie with the most Academy Award nominations that year. And the awesome thing Daniel Day-Lewis actually won Best Actor for playing the role of Abraham Lincoln. But the surprising thing is that Daniel actually rejected the role before. But somehow Steven Spielberg, director of the movie, managed to convince him. Well, thank God for that! Daniel easily convinces you as Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States.

Coming to the story thing, this movie is basically a historical drama about the final four months of Abraham Lincoln's life. The movie is actually based on Doris Kearns Goodwin's biography Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln. The amount of research that Steven Spielberg has done for this movie is simply exceptional. Spielberg did a research of around 12 years for this flick. The thinking that he gave to every little thing is awe-inspiring.

If you take for example the Lincoln's Executive Mansion office, the whole set is totally similar to the actually office where Lincoln used to work. The books, the wallpapers... everything is where it should be. Yes, that's what we call attention to detail. Also the sound of ticking of Lincoln's watch... the sound is the exact same sound of Lincoln's actual pocket watch. Not to forget how similar this replica looks to the one that Lincoln actually used. By the way, the actual watch is housed in the Kentucky Historical Society in Frankfurt, Kentucky. As a matter of fact, this is the same watch that Lincoln carried the day of his assassination.

These little facts have, no doubt, added to the charm of the movie. The movie did a business of more than $ 275 million at the box office. Also the good thing about this flick is that it got a 90% approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes. Awesome, eh?! That's totally coz of the excellent referencing that they have done for the movie.
In fact the real time referencing is indeed awesome. There are scenes where Abraham Lincoln calls his wife, Marry Todd Lincoln, Molly. Also the iconic stovepipe hat, a style of headgear for which Lincoln is quite famous has been used in the title role.

The movie is indeed worth a watch. And the fact that it's coming on HBO India makes it a must point not to miss it. Hope you give it a watch!
