Removing Painted Boat Names
- 1). Don rubber gloves.
- 2). Dampen a rag with paint stripping solvent. Wring excess solvent from the rag to prevent dripping.
- 3). Apply solvent to the painted name, using the damp rag. Wait 60 seconds for the solvent to loosen the adhesives within the paint.
- 4). Wrap the end of the plastic putty knife with a terry cloth. Use the putty knife to scrape the painted name from the boat, using the terry cloth as a buffer between the scraper and the boat. Dry excess solvent with clean towels.
- 5). Moisten a fresh rag with solvent and wipe down any remaining boat paint. Use a buffing wheel to remove the remaining paint. Dry excess solvent with a fresh, clean towel.
