1. Romantic Restaurants in Seattle

If you are interested in the classic romantic dinner out for Valentine’s Day, Seattle has many fine restaurants. Some of the finest are close to downtown Seattle:
  • Chez Shea offers a French twist on the romantic evening with fresh local ingredients - 94 Pike Street
  • Il Bistro is upscale Italian accented by candlelit tables and a fine wine list - 93 Pike Street
  • Maximilien Restaurant is another French restaurant, known for its beautiful views of the water and mountains - 81 Pike Street
  • The Pink Door has lovely bay views, live entertainment, a regular trapeze artist, and fine Italian-American food - 1919 Post Alley

If you want something a little different (and not downtown), Salty’s on Alki Beach has great seafood, steak, and water views, or even dine at the top of the Space Needle.

In Tacoma, the best romantic restaurants are mostly found in the downtown area. These include El Gaucho, the Melting Pot, and Indochine.

2. Romantic Hotels in Seattle

While what makes a romantic hotel can, of course, be subjective, most couples will likely enjoy a stay at one of Seattle’s upscale historical hotels. Sorrento at 900 Madison Street, the Edgewater at 2411 Alaskan Way, and Fairmont Olympic at 411 University Street are all worth considering for historic atmosphere, beautifully decorated rooms, and amazing customer service. Other romantic options include the Alexis Hotel, Inn at the Market, Marriott Seattle Waterfront, or the Eagle Harbor Inn on Bainbridge Island.

Tacoma is not nearly as well known for historical or romantic hotels, but there are some newer options downtown—Hotel Murano and the Marriott. The Silver Cloud Inn on the Waterfront is also worthy of consideration. It may be better to look toward Tacoma’s cute bed and breakfasts for a romantic weekend.

3. Seattle Romantic Getaways

Getting out of town for a romantic weekend can be a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Within a three-hour drive (or less) from Seattle are both Portland and Vancouver, as well as the ocean, San Juan Islands, mountain getaways, and small towns with cozy atmospheres such as Poulsbo or Leavenworth.More »

4. Valentine’s Day Parties

Valentine’s Day parties are a great way to get out and celebrate, and one of the best things to do if you’re single on V-day. Some of these require reservations or tickets in advance. Hoopsta Entertainment has Valentine’s Day cruise parties, while popular taverns and clubs like the Crocodile and Tractor often have things going on. Some of these are specifically Valentine’s related, while others might have the usual karaoke night or live music on.

5. Valentine’s Day Specials and Events

Many stores, wineries, and spas have Valentine’s Day specials. These might include anything from fair trade flowers to deals on amazing chocolates to special menus at a restaurant. There’s just might be nothing more romantic than getting a great deal!

No matter what you’re into, there are events on February 14 (and often the days before and after) that can help make your Valentine’s Day more fun. Get out, get active, and support a cause by joining in a fun run; learn to make a cherry pie; or take a romantic dinner cruise with Argosy.More »
