Slicing Tip - Are You Releasing The Golf Club Correctly?

103 27
Most golfers that slice the ball have a real problem with releasing the golf club.
Releasing the golf club is a term used in golf that basically means to roll your hands over at the bottom of the golf swing, to ensure that the club face is square at the moment of impact with the ball.
It is the momentum of the golf swing that will leave the club face open if you are not releasing the club head correctly through the contact area.
Golf slicers will have a tendency to try and hit the ball too hard, rather than letting the natural rhythm and tempo of the swing develop the power for them.
If you are swinging too hard at the ball, your hands get ahead of you at impact, which makes it very difficult, if not impossible to correctly release the club head through the ball.
A good practice drill that will help you identify whether you are releasing the club head correctly through impact is to hit balls with a short swing.
By short swing, I mean just taking the club back to hip height in the backswing and stopping the swing at hip height during the through swing.
If you are releasing the golf club correctly you should find that once you have reached hip height during your backswing, the back of your left hand will be facing directly away from you and once you have completed your through swing the back of your right hand will be facing directly away from you.
If you are a golf slicer you will probably find that you have not rolled your hands sufficiently enough during the follow through to see that the back of the right hand is facing directly away from you.
If this is the case, then keep practicing until you can consistently get that right hand rolled over properly and hopefully it will help you to fix your slice once and for all!
