"Need for Speed: ProStreet" is an underground street-racing game for all seventh-generation game machines. The game lets players collect a large variety of high-powered street racing cars and take them up against a succession of opponents. The game's final opponent, Ryo Watanabe, is a tough racer to beat, but with the right car, he can be defeated. You have to beat Ryo in four different challenges, with different car classes each time.

    Drift Cars

    • If you're a drift driver who prefers to throw the car around tough corners and coast for bonus points, try tricking out the Corvette c6. This high-end machine will perform ably in a race with Ryo if it's carrying all the top upgrades in all categories. The '65 GTO will perform to the same standard if upgraded fully. The '67 GT 500 will hold its own in the battle with Ryo as long as you upgrade the Power all the way--other settings can be tweaked only as far as you need them. Finally, the Mazda RX7 will get huge drift bonuses with some mildly upgraded Aeros--Level 3 should be all you need to get the big bonuses and take down Ryo.

    Drag Cars

    • The Drag Challenge forces you to take on Ryo in a down-and-dirty drag race where tires are shredded and acceleration is key. Try tricking out a Supra for the "Drag" presets, and work to keep your speed above 220 mph. Another strategy is to build up the Dodge Charger R/T with soft front springs to ease into fast startups, and rock-hard rear springs to pop big wheelies for a good bonus. Tuning is all important in a Drag Challenge, so trick out your Supra and Charger specifically for these challenges.

    Grip Cars

    • The direct opposite of a Drift Challenge, a Grip race forces you to place a premium on your racing line and make as few swerves or slides as possible. The Evo X or Nissan GT-R Proto will give precise handling in these challenges, so if you're able to keep up with the precise handling they demand, you'll be served well in the race against Ryo. Alternatively, try tuning a Porsche 911 Turbo or Porsche Murciélago for Grip racing for a looser handling ride that will still handle corners with the precision required for this race.

    Speed Cars

    • The Speed Challenge is simple but requires stiff concentration. Optimally, you want to be going as fast as possible and to brake seldom if at all. A Porsche 911 GT2 kitted out for speed will do the trick here, with low Aeros to counter the many bumps and hills on the Speed course. The Dodge Viper SRT10 also provides the high ride necessary to negotiate this course's uneven surface without sacrificing the all-important high top speed.
