Regarding formal tests. We've done extensive testing and the test that we are unable to fully manipulate is too long. Please note the word, "Fully." Personally, I almost feel asleep and my wife had to finish it as my personality had an inverse relationship to my business acumen unlike anything they've seen. It was almost like I was the most driven and entrepreneurial-minded librarian on the face of the planet.

Overall, these tests are helpful and do provide some transparency, but only because if they fail, the sales executives, sales managers, sales reps., etc. are not the sharpest knife in the draw. If can't figure out how to beat a test, how can you persuade.

However, for the good, hands-on and motivational sales manager, these tests can prove for some gainful insight as to how to best train each employee. Though, if you are a sales manager, you should already know how to gain employee trust and create an atmosphere that is open.

Lastly, it takes a lot of time to weed through these sales representatives at the psychological test centers. Easier to just hire a shrink if you ask me. That is, unless they are in New York City - overpriced with no results and a feeling of arrogance and buyer's remorse as one leaves the room.
