Incorporate Your Swedish Heritage in Your Perfect Wedding - Keep the Trolls Away With Your Bouquet

103 15
A sweet smelling bouquet has always been part of the romantic dream of a wedding ceremony.
Now in Sweden, if you're married during May or early June (and May is the preferred month!), one tends to carry lilies of the valley.
They're a sweet and traditional bouquet for spring brides.
But here's the surprise, they probably didn't originally carry bridal bouquets because they smelled sweetly but because they had a strong smell.
A long time ago brides and grooms carried armfuls of noxious smelling weeds to keep the trolls and evil spirits at bay.
Trolls, as tradition would tell us, are eager to disrupt the joyful life of the young couple because they can't bear for others to be happy.
Evil spirits are equally disquieting guests at a wedding, but at least they're invisible.
Trolls are well known for their lack of hygiene and their prodigious appetites.
Not content to merely ruin the new marriage - not to mention the lives of other attendees - they can eat you out of house and home if you're not careful.
Luckily both trolls and evil spirits are easily confused.
So make sure you include a little bit of stinkweed in your bridal bouquet to keep you and your beloved safe from Trolls.
After all, Sweden has a long, long history.
Troll abductions at weddings have not been written about for thousands of years.
Once you've arranged the flowers to your satisfaction, you can concentrate on your wedding ceremony and your wedding vows and create the marriage in which you will live happily and healthily ever after.
