Review Of A Laser Treatment Done With The Erbium Laser

101 7
New lasers now may or may not remove the top layers of skin and they are more targeted and less invasive, causing less tissue damage. An example is the Erbium laser which I am trying today. According to Dr Elliott, this laser has exfoliating properties which is good for acne and it also has skin tightening benefits.

As the Erbium laser is stronger than the Q-Switch laser, my skin will have more "blushing" but results will be more obvious. Cool! I can't wait to try it as I have already noticed an improvement in my skin from the first treatment. Friends have commented that I looked more radiant and my skin felt smoother.

Treatment process:

After cleansing my face, Dr Elliott performed two rounds of laser. It was less painful this time compared to my previous experience with the Dermlift laser and the whole process was over in 10 minutes! Great for a quick lunch-time touch up.

As per all their laser treatments, a cold mask and shoulder massage is done after the laser treatment. I always look forward to this part! However, if you are pressed for time, you can also just apply moisturizer and you're good to go.

Results:

My skin was definitely redder than my previous treatment and it was stinging slightly, like a sunburn. The next day, my face felt really smooth and was very radiant. The Erbium laser has done what my facialist has been trying to do for months - it removed all my clogged pores - in 10 minutes to boot! The results were so obvious that I received at least five compliments from people about my glowing complexion. Wow, I am a laser convert!

Facts about Laser Skin Resurfacing:

How: New lasers these days only remove a fraction of the skin using thousands of microscopic laser spots. There is less downtime as the laser only removes old skin leaving healthy skin intact. The latest in lasers are the Q-switched Nd: YAG system such as the Spectra VRM III, that photomechanically removes pigmented lesions. This non-ablative laser breaks the pigments into tiny fragments which are then absorbed through the body's natural mechanisms.

For deeper wrinkles or scars, an ablative CO2 laser like the Fraxel CO2 may be more effective. This procedure starts off with cleansing and microdermabrasion followed by full face passes of the laser onto skin that's dusted with micronised carbon particles. Heating of these particles cause skin tightening and contraction, rejuvenating the skin for a refreshed, youthful look.
