Years of business school, work experience, and successful management may lead to a job offer of management analyst. While analysis sounds like quality assurance, and management speaks for itself, it can be difficult to know for sure the duties of a management analyst. While management analysts perform different specific tasks for different companies and industries depending on need, there are a few general duties which every management analyst must perform. - One of the duties of the Management Analyst is to enact and supervise organizational change. This generally means the hiring and firing of individuals, although it could mean the supervising of a pilot project, or the designing and implementation of a new branch. The management analyst will assess the business situation by interviewing current employees, looking at the current organizational model (where applicable), and comparing it to past models. Once the areas where change is needed have been located, the management analyst will suggest to the client or employer where to make changes.
- More than personnel, a principle job of the management analyst is to streamline the methods of production and productivity. This could mean truncating reports run by an office, or recommending a new layout on a factory floor that will save time and money in the production of goods. To do this, the management analyst will shadow the actions of multiple employees at every stage of the production process. Additionally, the analyst will interview management staff looking for clues where and how to make production more efficient.
- As you may have guessed, this is one of the most essential functions of the management analyst. To do this, management analysts shadow management staff, oversee production or productivity, review the history of productive output, and interview employees and clients regarding their overall experience with the management staff. This process usually ends in recommendations on how to streamline the process of management, how to interact more effectively with employees, and how to increase production. In some cases, the recommendation is to terminate the current management staff. In these cases, if the business decides to heed the advice of the analyst, his or her job can become more involved as the analyst can be retained to design a new management program.
