Diner games are a fun way for girls to work on multi-tasking skills, organization and critical thinking skills, all while earning points and having fun. Most diner games involve a first-person perspective in the fictional diner, either as a waitress or cook, allowing the player to get a taste of restaurant life from the safely of their computer. However, not all games are created equal, and depending on what you are looking to get out of the game, some are more appropriate than others. - Diner Dash accurately portrays the feeling that restaurant veterans describe as "in the weeds." In this game you are Flo, a new waitress who must wait on every table in the restaurant, including bussing tables for dirty dishes, putting in food orders, refilling drinks, seating guests and delivering checks. While it can be overwhelming, as you play the game, you will become more efficient with your movements. You will also learn how to pacify guests with screaming babies, which tables need less attention and how to keep hungry guests distracted with drinks and music. However, this is a game that demands your full attention. If you start slacking, guests will get angry and leave, and your business can fall into disrepair. This game is recommended for girls ages 10 and up.
- Penguin diner is similar to other diner games but a bit simpler, as it is aimed at a younger crowd. You play Penny the penguin, who is waiting tables in order to earn money to pay for her way back home. The graphics are bright and bold, and everything is penguin-themed, from the dishes to the diner decor. While there isn't a lot of variety in the orders placed by customers, the game still demands a level of multi-tasking on the part of the player, as you are responsible for seating guests, taking orders, delivering food and cleaning tables after guests leave. While it won't present too much of a challenge for adults, the graphics are entertaining. This game is recommended for girls 5 years of age and up.
- Youda Sushi Chef is a game that not only tests your limits and multi-tasking skills, but teaches players quite a bit about authentic sushi. In this game, you are the chef and owner of a sushi restaurant. When guests come in and order, a picture appears above their heads. You have to create the correct dish, or what you've created turns into an inedible brown blob. As you progress through the game, you can accept take-out orders, bribe impatient customers with sake and knife tricks and order more ingredients with the money that you've earned. This is one of the most involved games of its genre, and it requires all of your attention to play successfully. It is recommended for girls ages 12 and up.
