How to Damage a Garmin GPS
- 1). Place the Garmin GPS in extreme heat or cold. Heat will damage the electric components and can cause the device to explode if mishandled. Cold weather can cause the device's electrical components to stop working due to the humidity of the air.
- 2). Drop the Garmin GPS. Dropping the Garmin GPS system on concrete, tile or hardwood flooring will break the screen or the plastic. If a Garmin screen cracks, the GPS system will no longer turn on.
- 3). Pour water on the device. Pouring water on the GPS device while it is operational can cause an electrical shock. Water on the device will cause the electrical components to fry and may cause leakage inside the screen. Water damage will also corrode the battery and plastic if the device is submerged long enough under water.
