Trimline 2400 Treadmill Troubleshooting
- Dirt and debris accumulation and can cause a multitude of problems. It can cause your walking belt to stick and your motor to overheat and burn out. Unplug your treadmill and use a damp rag (without soap) to wipe down your treadmill. Do this once a week. Also wipe between the walking deck and your walking belt. Vacuum underneath and around your treadmill once a week; and vacuum under the motor hood once a month.
- After miles of running or walking on your Trimline 2400, the belt can go off center. Use the tool that came with your treadmill, or one advised in your user manual, and turn the screw on the back left rear of the treadmill deck to the left or right to center the walking belt. Keep the walking belt running while you do this.
- The treadmill belt also can loosen over use, or may stick if it's set too tight. Using the tool that came with your treadmill or one advised by your manufacturer, turn both screws at the rear of the treadmill deck in a clockwise direction applying the same pressure to each screw. This will provide more tension for your belt if it is loose. If you need to loosen the belt, do the same but turn the screws equally in a counter-clockwise direction.
- If your walking belt continues to stick even if the tension is correct, you may need to lubricate the walking deck. Do this according to the directions in your owner's manual. All you need is a rag; a lubricant recommended by your manufacturer; and the tool you used to adjust the tension of the treadmill belt. Unplug the power cord and remove the cover over the motor. Loosen the screws that adjust the belt tension and push the back roller towards the deck. Next, loosen the front roller and remove it by inclining the treadmill. Remove the rear roller and the screws that hold the deck in place. Lift the deck and the walking belt out at the same time. Lubricate the deck according to your user manual instructions, making sure you don't overlubricate the deck as this can do more harm than good to your equipment.
- The motor drive belt is what turns the front roller on your treadmill. If your treadmill walking belt sticks or stops running, the drive belt may need adjustment or replacement. The drive belt is located underneath the motor cover and connected to the motor. Inspect the belt to ensure it is intact without any small cuts. If this is the case, the drive belt will need to be replaced. Also make sure the drive belt is centered over the front roller.
To adjust the tension of the drive belt, loosen the bolt that runs the full length of the motor mount, then loosen the set bolt(s) on the motor, but don't remove them. You also may have a bolt that runs the same direction with the walking belt. Following your manufacturer instructions, adjust the tension of the drive belt so that it will turn the front roller.
Test the drive belt while the motor cover is removed. Walk on the walking belt and try to stall it to make it slip. If either occurs, you will need to readjust the tension of the drive belt until you can walk on the belt in a smooth, continuous fashion.
