1996 Ford Ranger Specifications
- Although the 1996 Ford Ranger was available in 19 model variations, only three engines were available; the standard 112-horsepower 2.3-liter four-cylinder, a 147-horsepower 3.0-liter V-6 engine and a 4.0 L 160 horsepower Cologne V6 engine that was available as an option on the Splash super cab, XL supercab and the STX. The 1996 Ranger came standard with a five-speed manual transmission and had an optional four-speed automatic.
- All 1996 Ford Ranger models came standard with ABS brakes and a driver's side airbag. Although no passenger airbag was available, the 1996 Ford Ranger received a four stars out five passenger and driver crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
- The 1996 Ford Ranger was available in rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Standard cab Rangers could seat three, while supercab Rangers could seat five. Fuel economy ranges from 19 MPG for city and 24 MPG for highway on a rear-wheel drive, manual-transmission four-cylinder Ranger to 15 MPG city and 20 MPG highway on a four-wheel drive, automatic transmission V-6 Ranger.
