How to Neutralize Odors on Rugs
- 1). Sprinkle baking soda across the rugs, leaving behind a light coating.
- 2). Press the baking soda down into shag rugs and other thicker rugs with a broom. This ensures the baking soda is reaching deep down to the base of the rugs. Let the baking soda sit overnight.
- 3). Vacuum the following day to collect the baking soda and the odor should be gone, leaving the rug smelling fresh.
- 4). Fill a spray bottle with white vinegar and mist the vinegar lightly over the rugs if odor remains. The vinegar neutralizes odor well without causing any type of harm or damage to the rug.
