Convert Using OpenOffice.org

• 1). Open the OpenOffice.org application. Click on the "Open a document" icon in the "Welcome" screen.
  
  
• 2). Select "Spreadsheets" from the "Files of type" drop-down box. Highlight the document you want to convert. Click the "Open" button.
  
  
• 3). Click "File" and "Save as" in the menu. Select "Microsoft Excel" (.xls) from the "Save as type" drop-down box. Click the "Save" and "Keep Current Format" buttons.
  
  

Convert Using Microsoft Excel

• 1). Download the OpenXML/ODF Translator Add-in for Office from sourceforge.org. Install the add-in and reboot your computer.
  
  
• 2). Open Microsoft Excel. Click on the "Office" button in the upper-left corner of the "Microsoft Excel" window.
  
  
• 3). Select "ODF" and "Open ODF" from the menu. Highlight the ODS file that you want to convert to XLS. Click "OK."
  
  
• 4). Click the "Office" button. Select "Save As" and "Excel 97-2003 Workbook" from the menu.
  
  
• 5). Type a name for the file in the "File name" area. Click "Save."
