How to Make Elaborate Hair Bows
- 1). Mark three dots on each ribbon, with a dot in the center of the ribbon and a dot one inch in from each 1-inch end, centered across the width of the ribbon.
- 2). Punch through each mark on the ribbons with the hole punch. If you do not have a hole punch, you can make a small slit over each mark with a crafting knife.
- 3). Lay a white ribbon down with the inside of the ribbon facing up. Fold one end of the ribbon over so the hole in it aligns over the center hole, then fold the second end over so the hole in the second end aligns over the other two holes. This creates two loops in the ribbon.
- 4). Thread a brad through the three holes so that the end of the brad points out the opposite side of the ribbon than the side the loops extend up on.
- 5). Repeat Steps 1 through 3 with a pink ribbon, then insert the end of the brad through the three holes, with the second ribbon arranged perpendicular to the first and underneath it.
- 6). Secure the remaining eight ribbons to the brad in the same manner as the first two, alternating between white and pink ribbons and arranging them at angles so that they form a rounded shape of alternating color. Fold the two ends of the brad down in opposite directions to secure the bow.
- 7). Slide the two ends of the hairpin around the brad, just above where you folded the two legs out. When worn, the pin secures to a long length of hair like a normal hairpin, while the two ends of the brad help stabilize it.
