Mririan/magibon - Why Do the Haters Hate?

101 27
Magibon - hoax or scam or conspiracy? Corporate experiment, or advertising campaign? This is what many people are asking, as they attempt to cope with the reality of Magibon. She is the apparently ordinary girl who makes videos on YouTube in which she says nothing, and just smiles and stares at the camera. Yet her viewing figures are in the millions. What is the secret?

Is it all a scam, or a hoax? Or is there some even deeper reason for this amazing popularity? And above all, what motivates some people to hate a young woman who is so clearly loveable?

Ok the first up is that we think although there are many haters, they are in the minority, because we think most people love her, because how could any sensible person do anything BUT love her? So the people that LOVE her are a “silent majority” and the people that HATE her are a very very “vocal minority.”

So we ask, what can it be that makes people, some of whom may well be quite nice, decent people from good families, behave in such a nasty, bullying, frightening way towards Magibon? The girl who, although her videos sometimes might seem hard to understand, is cute, friendly, and has never done anyone any harm? Someone who could easily be the “girl next door.” We think we know the answer.

It’s because they think they are being SCAMMED.

They think they’re being scammed by YouTube. They think they’re being scammed by Google. What form the scam is taking, they have no idea. But they think they are being scammed by powerful forces of big business, or even government.

And so they get angry. And why wouldn’t they? But the evidence for a scam just isn’t there. Because for a scam to work, there has to be some MONEY that goes from the pocket of the mark into the pocket of the scammer. So how much money are you paying to go on YouTube?

Yes, we thought so - nothing!

Now when these people get angry, they can’t direct it at some faceless company so they direct it at the person they see as that company’s representative. In their ignorance they see Magi as the “representative ” of Google/YouTube, so they direct their anger at her.

But there is no scam.

The only benefit Magi gets from YouTube is to participate in the Partner program, which is just a glorified AdSense. The only way she can get paid is if YOU click on those ads - and nobody is forcing you to do that. And anyway, clicking on AdSense STILL doesn’t cost you anything. Magi is not a Hollywood star, she’s not a professional model, or even a professional actress, just a nice girl from an ordinary American background who doesn’t deserve to be bullied.

And yet - even though she doesn’t deserve your hate, and even though she’s just an “ordinary” girl, NOT an instrument of corporate power - even so, that girl has REALLY got something. And we think that this, not a hoax or scam theory, is the true explanation of Magibon’s popularity. She has a talent, an artistic self-assurance, an indefinable charisma, a hypnotic grace, a quality of total serenity - and these things are all her own, not the product of a corporate advertising promotion, but her own thing. She should be celebrated, and America, the country of her birth, should be proud of her.

We should all enjoy what she does and be thankful that we have received such a remarkable gift - the gift of Magichan.
