    Patterns

    • Observe the patterns of your menstrual cycle. Note when it begins each month for several months. Most cycles are about 28 days long.

    Subtracting

    • Once you find out the length of your average cycle, subtract 14 from that number. That's the approximate day of ovulation for you. According to Carolyn Kubic, fertility specialist, there is a window of about 24 hours during which you can become pregnant once the egg is released.

    Inconsistent Cycles

    • If your cycle is not consistent, you might not be able to determine when you are ovulating. You might want to visit your doctor to rule out potential underlying health problems.

    Ovulation Predictor Kits

    • If you are unsure about when you are ovulating, you can take a home ovulation predictor kit.

    Cervical Mucus

    • Another sign of ovulation is when your vaginal discharge is clear and stretchy.

    Basal Body Temperature

    • A basal body thermometer helps you to monitor your body temperature; you will have a spike in temperature just after ovulation. This type of thermometer measures slight changes in body temperature more accurately than a standard thermometer.
