How Can I Get Rid of the Small Black Ants I Have?
- 1). Set out ant traps near where you have seen the ants and also next to any opening to your home such as doorways. There are two kinds of ant traps. One kind draws the ants in to eat poisonous food, but the insect stays alive along enough to go back to the colony and spread the poison to other ants. The other kind of ant bait kills ants immediately once they stumble into the trap.
- 2). Keep bug spray handy so that you can eliminate ants on contact.
- 3). Clean the ant-infected room often. Black ants are called sugar ants because they are attracted to food. The cleaner your home is, the less there will be for the ants to feed upon.
- 4). Look for holes near the problem area. If the ants are getting into your home through a crack in the door or window, you may need to repair the opening to avoid more ants from entering.
- 5). Call an exterminator if you try getting rid of the ants on your own and large amounts keep returning. The ants may be coming out of a small crack in the wall that you can not effectively reach with out professional equipment.
