< Continued from page 2

Have you begun work on the next book yet? Can you give us some hints as to what will be in it?

David and I are just beginning to outline changes for the second edition, which will be published next spring. It will include our analysis and discussion of the first two and a half seasons, emphasizing the most recent episodes through the end of 2006 at least--and possibly into early 2007. Because the fandom has really taken off in the past year, we expect to look at the Lost phenomenon more closely.

Additions to chapters about technology, such as the role the technology found in the hatch plays on the island, and how that reflects concerns about technology in the world in general, and to chapters about spirituality, looking more closely at Mr. Eko, for example, will be made. We'll look at the Others more closely and what they and characters like the Widmores represent. The second edition will be a complete revision, not just a section or two of new information. Of course, we'll update the character connections, episode guide, and lists of awards and nominations--all the quick references for fans. We plan to keep unlocking new meanings and analyzing even more layers. We're also discussing a second Lost book, and although I can't talk about that project right now, we'll let readers know about it through our web site as soon as we have more details.
