Open Your Eyes to the Delight of Gardening Programs on an LCD TV

103 21
Watching your favourite gardening program on an LCD television is an amazing visual experience.
If you're used to watching it on your old TV set you're probably not even aware of the washed out colours and murky appearance past technology has against an LCD.
But I promise you, once you've experienced it, you won't want to go back.
The term LCD actually stands for liquid crystal display.
This technology is being used in computers, laptops, televisions and even the control panels of airplanes.
They are also lightweight enough to be used in small items like watches, alarm clocks and personal calculators.
Its interesting to note, however, that liquid crystals were discovered back in the late eighteen hundreds and are only now seeing widespread use.
Liquid crystals have a complex molecular structure.
In some ways they resemble water and in others they are more like oil or alcohol.
For instance, when a liquid crystal is cold it becomes solid, and when heat is applied it melts, the same way water will.
When it reaches a certain temperature, though, the consistency becomes cloudy, like the alcohol or oil.
Heat it still further and the cloudiness goes away.
When used in an electronic display, an electric current runs across the surface of the liquid crystals in order to keep them at the cloudy stage.
This creates the background for the startling clarity you witness when watching an LCD television.
The actual construction of the liquid crystal display is a complicated one.
It involves the usage of special glass in varying layers over and around the liquid crystal, substrates, electrodes and so much more that its difficult to understand unless you're familiar with technology.
Luckily for us, however, you don't need a science degree to be able to enjoy the lovely crystal-sharp clarity on the screen.
As you watch your favourite gardening program, your viewing pleasure will reach a whole new level.
The colours will stagger you.
The green of the grass, the trees and the bushes will seem to pop from the television.
The rich colour of the soil and the bright colours of lilies, geraniums and roses will seem so alive you'll almost be able to smell them.
Autumn colours will be crisp.
Winter whites will be faultlessly clean.
When you're following your favourite gardener through his greenhouse to view his onions, potatoes and rhubarb the colours will come alive.
The satiny purple of his eggplants, the ripe red of his tomatoes, the snapping yellow of his banana peppers will be present, vital, real.
LCD displays are going to be around for a long time.
They're the technology of today and the future.
Even though their construction can be complicated and the rate of discarded units is still fairly high, funding for research into new manufacturing methods ensured success.
You should get your own LCD TV.
Take it home and immerse yourself in the pleasure of watching your favourite gardening program.
You'll be save money at the same time - LCDs have been proven to use less electricity than typical television sets.
Another incentive!
