When to Use Turf Builder?
- Turf builder is best applied to a slightly damp lawn, such as early in the morning, or the morning after a heavy rainfall. This helps ensure that the particles will cling to the weeds and grass. If you live in an area of the country that doesn't get much rainfall, you can spray your lawn with a garden hose to dampen it before application.
To begin, pour the turf builder into the hopper of a spreader, then push the spreader around the lawn for even distribution of the product. Remember not to park the spreader in one area of your lawn for a long period of time, as an excess of fertilizer can cause the grass to burn.
Also be sure that no rainfall is expected within 24 hours after the turf builder is applied. If it rains right after application, the rain will wash the particles from the lawn, and you will not get good results from the turf builder. - Turf builder is best applied in the spring and fall each year. Using turf builder too frequently (more than twice a year) can damage the lawn. Mow the lawn before each application. The grass must be short enough for the spreader to pass over without touching it. Also, don't apply turf builder if it is too windy outside. The particles will not stick to the lawn, but will be blown away by the wind.
As noted above, to get maximum results it is recommended that you water the lawn before application. This will ensure that the newly applied turf builder will adhere to the lawn. With each application your lawn will grow thicker and greener.
