Do You Play The Lotto, Have You Ever Won?

Today I played the lotto. I don't play to often every now and then just for the heck of it or when I have a spare $1. I don't have any set numbers to play I just pick the numbers at random and let the machine pick for me.

Of course I didn't win because if I did I wouldn't be sitting here writing this blog post, I would be on an island somewhere and paid someone to do it for me lol.

Now in order to win the lotto you need all 5 numbers plus the powerball to hit the jackpot which is worth several million dollars. They also have prizes for some numbers from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand.

Now what does the lotto have to do with your business? Well what people do is play the lotto with their business the "mlm lottery" so to speak.

Every network marketer thinks their product is the best and their company is the best so they do their best to convince everyone and anybody who will listen to them the same thing.

They believe that everyone wants their product or service so they tell everybody with that very belief and think something is wrong if no one else believes or buys into what they are selling.

It's not always the fault of the network marketer many companies teach their reps to promote this way. The last company I was in I was told to buy 100 magazines 100 dvds and just pass them out to everyone. From standing at the gas station and walking up to people getting gas, to hanging out in shopping malls. Literally everyone was a target and a potential customer or rep.

The company essentially teaches their reps to play the lotto with the hopes of getting to the jackpot of $10,000 a month and a ticket to financial freedom.

The problem with these teachings and methods of prospecting is not everyone wants or needs your product and service. For example if you are in the health and wellness industry there are literally thousands of products out there at places like Walmart and GNC which I can buy at a cheaper price.

In the service business you are competing with bills, insurance, cable tv, cell phone, and whatever other service that particular person may have.

So no not everyone wants and needs your product or service. The reason why is you didn't qualify your prospects, you didn't determine what their wants and needs are and you didn't see what that prospect needs help with. You have to find out what interests them and what it is that they are trying to accomplish.

Even if you do sign up some people to join or buy they are not likely to stick with the business or product because other things will get in the way, and they will cancel the autoship, or drop out of the business and you will simply be back to square one playing the lotto all over again.

Now like with the lotto you may get lucky and get one or two people, but again like the lotto the odds are against you and you will have to play numerous times before you find some lucky people who will stay.

If you continue to play the lotto with your business, you will not get very far. What you need is a system that will help you pick the winning numbers, or in this case find winning prospects who want your product and want your service and want to join your business. No need to do what I did before and hang out at gas stations and shopping malls hoping to get one or two winning prospects, like those who play the lotto hoping to just get a few winning numbers until they hit the jackpot.
