How to Repair a GE Washing Machine
- 1). Disconnect the power supply completely. Never work on an appliance while it is plugged into an outlet.
- 2). Locate the two clips holding the front panel in place. The clips are typically located on each side of the panel near the warning labels.
- 3). Insert a putty knife where the clips are located. This will push the clips inward, allowing easy removal of the panel. Pull the panel away from the cabinet and lift off the clips from their base.
- 1). Access the washer's interior by removing the panel.
- 2). Check for water stains on the back left of the base. If there are any present, then there is a transmission problem. Purchase a new transmission from the parts store and replace the broken part.
- 3). Check for water leaking down the middle of the washer. If there is any present, then the washer needs a new tub seal. Purchase a new seal and install it according to instructions found in the owners manual.
- 1). Access the washer's interior by removing the panel.
- 2). Check the user manual to locate the machine's pump. In most models, it is located on the bottom right of the washing machine and is bolted down.
