How to Keep Blue Herons Away from a Koi Pond

104 30
    • 1). Measure the size of your koi pond using the measuring tape, and take note of the length and width. You need to create a screen over the top of the pond to keep the predators out.

    • 2). Cut two pieces of lumber to the width that the predator screen will be. Cut two more pieces of the same length.

    • 3). Lay the boards out on a solid, flat surface, and screw or nail them together to form a large frame.

    • 4). Unroll the chicken wire fencing across the top of the frame, then staple it in place with a staple gun. If two pieces of chicken wire overlap, secure them together by cutting a wire loose from one of the pieces of chicken wire, and wrapping it through the hole in the other.

    • 5). Cut the excess chicken wire off of the frame using the wire cutters, and then lay the frame over the top of the koi pond.
