Going Pee When You Go Hiking - A Hiking Challenge For Women

103 13
When you go hiking, it is important to keep yourself hydrated.
The amount of liquid you perspire, and keeping a steady pace requires a drinking a lot of water.
Staying hydrated also helps you keep a better breathing rhythm.
There is one downside to all this hydration however, and that is that you will eventually need to pee.
For guys this is not usually an issue, but for girls, finding a place to urinate is a huge challenge.
On all but the most travelled hiking trails, there is no toilet or outhouse.
It is extremely important to go to the bathroom before you start a hike, even if you do not need to at that moment.
You should still go.
I remember, when I went hiking on my first moderately difficult trail, a five-hour hike at Elk Island National Park.
It was a very hot summer day, and I was sweating a lot so I drank a few bottles of water to keep myself hydrated.
It was only two hours into the trail that I had to go to pee very badly.
I kept going for another hour and there were no signs of any bathrooms along the way.
Since there was no one on the trail with us, my partner suggested that I could go pee on the side of the path.
The only problem was that I did not bring with me any toilet paper or hand sanitizer with me.
The weather was really hot and the mosquitos were absolutely insane.
I decided to keep going but I stopped drinking water for the rest of the hike.
By the end, I was absolutely exhausted due to the heat and dehydration.
What I learned from this, is that even if you go for a very short hike, make sure you go to the bathroom before you start, no matter what.
If you decide to go hiking on a longer trail, you make sure you have toilet paper and hand sanitizer in your bag.
It probably seems funny to talk about urinating to most, and generally people find it uncomfortable to talk about these things.
People want to talk about all the beautiful views while hiking etc...
but the truth is that this is a natural human requirement.
Often, people forget to share some of the very helpful experiences such as: what do you when you have to pee very badly during a hike? It can happen to anyone! For any female hiker, it is critical to bring toilet paper and hand sanitizer when you go hiking.
These are not very heavy to carry, and having them could potentially save you a huge amount of discomfort.
And, if you do decide to go on the side of the path, make sure it is in an area where there are no plants, you definitely don't want to get poison oak down there!
