Cankles Cure
As more people become aware of their cankles, more people have started looking for a cure.
Unfortunately, there really isn't much good advice out there.
As someone who's managed to get rid of cankles, I do know how it's done, so let me share with you how I did it.
First of all I made some careful observations when I was obsessing in front of the mirror each day and jotted them down - 1.
I knew that I was overweight and, as obesity is the most common cause of cankles, I figured that had something to do with it.
2.
I also noticed that my cankles often looked shiny, like the skin was stretched, and this was particularly apparent at certain times of the month.
3.
I could see that I had little muscle in the calf area of my legs, and that this muscle was undefined From these findings I did some research online as to what caused each specific symptom.
Interestingly, I found that my diet was having a big impact on my cankles.
It turned out that not only was I eating too much, but my diet was high in salt and low in essential vitamins, which caused me to gain weight and retain water around my ankles (this was why the skin looked shiny and stretched).
OK so this part was easy, I'd found that one cankles cure was to lose weight through eating more fruit and veg and less salt.
The microwave meals and salty snacks went in the trash and I started seeing an improvement in my cankles within weeks! I also found a great diet plan to help me stick to my new way of eating through recipes and meal plans, which I discuss over at my blog.
The next cure I found was exercise (are you noticing that the cures link together, as exercise is great for weight loss, water retention and building muscle?).
Swimming is the best form of exercise for curing cankles as it does not put stress on joints and muscles (it is low impact) and the water pressure helps any fluid retention in your lower legs to disappear.
Cycling and rowing are also great forms of mild, low impact exercise, which help your body to get blood pumping round and excess fluids drained.
There are also specific exercises for building muscle in the lower legs.
An easy one to do at home is the heel / toe walk.
You simply walk from one side of a room to the other on just the heels of your feet, then walk back again on just your tiptoes.
Repeat it until you can feel your muscles starting to ache, then rest (putting your feet up also helps to get rid of water retention).
Overall, most cases of cankles require a many sided approach to curing them.
Take a good look at your cankles and try to note down how they look and feel just as I did, that way you know what you're dealing with and can take a step by step approach to getting rid of them for good.
In my case, simple changes to my diet made a huge difference, alongside gentle exercising most days.
It took a few weeks to see a difference in my cankles, but persevere and I'm sure you will cure your cankles for good just like I did.
