Oregon HUD Compliant Foundation Requirements
- Making sure your manufactured house complies with HUD foundation requirements is important because neither HUD nor the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) will loan money on a house which does not meet HUD foundation requirements.
- The HUD Permanent Foundations Guide for Manufactured Housing became effective in September 1996. The rules do not grandfather in existing houses, so, even if you got a loan before on a house which does not comply with the new rules, you will need to get the house in compliance to get a new loan.
- A key feature of the HUD requirements is that to secure a loan from HUD, you need a certificate from a licensed engineer certifying that the foundation of your house complies with HUD foundation requirements.
