Chkdsk Won't Go Past 0
- 1). Click the Windows "Start" button and type "cmd" into the search text box on the pop-up menu. Press "Enter" to open the command line.
- 2). Type "chkntfs /C drive:" into the prompt where "drive" is the drive letter you want to check. For most people, this is the "C" drive.
- 3). Press "Enter" on your keyboard. The Chkdsk utility is scheduled to run the next time you boot your computer.
- 4). Reboot your computer to run Chkdsk on the machine. Chkdsk takes several minutes to complete, so reboot your computer when you don't need to use it for a few minutes.
