How Do I Remove the Accessory Belt on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee?
- 1). Pop the hood. Locate the belt tensioner on the front of the engine, which is a pulley that is pressing against the belt with a square hole in the middle of it.
- 2). Insert the square head of the 1/2-inch breaker bar into the square hole on the tensioner. Turn the tensioner away from the belt using the breaker bar.
- 3). Pull the belt off the pulleys with your hand, then release the breaker bar. Remove the belt from the engine compartment.
