Are Your Children at Risk of a Sport Injury? Padded Compression Shorts May Be The Answer

103 216
Sports are a big part of American culture, often beginning in elementary school for many kids.
As a parent it is hard to see your child get injured as a result of playing sports, but bumps and bruises are commonplace.
This is especially true in the more full contact sports such as football and hockey.
It may leave you wondering if the value of learning teamwork and being physically active is worth the risk of injury.
While there will always be an inherent level of risk associated with any sport, providing your kids with the appropriate protective gear is the best thing a parent can do to keep them injury free.
An entire industry is devoted to protective sporting gear but the focus here will be on padded compression shorts.
Used in a number of sporting activities, padded compression shorts are designed to be worn as a base layer, underneath a uniform or practice clothing.
These shorts are made from performance fabrics that have sweat wicking properties to keep the skin dry and prevent chaffing.
The pads in these shorts are either sewn into the fabric or are removable and slipped into pockets strategically located in impact areas of the body.
The material and thickness of the padding also varies.
Typically this depends on which sport they are made for.
The padding in baseball shorts for example is much thinner than that found in football or hockey shorts as these two sports involve a great deal more contact between players than baseball does.
Having your child wear a sport appropriate pair of padded compression shorts will help prevent injury to their hips, thighs and tailbone.
It is often tough to convince children to wear safety gear such as helmets for bike riding.
The great thing about padded compression shorts is that they really look great.
The design of many of these padded shorts look cool so in all likelihood most kids will want to wear them.
And even if they don't, padded compression shorts are discreet and can rarely be noticed under other clothing.
In fact, many college and pro NFL and NBA players routinely wear some type of padded compression short, but they are not seen very often.
Padded compression shorts aren't just for boys either.
Some companies such as McDavid and Stromgren manufacture padded shorts for softball, field hockey and volleyball.
These sports are more often played by young women and girls than boys.
Soccer is another sport that padded compression short manufacturers are catering to that both boys and girls engage in.
Whether you have a boy or girl getting them a pair of padded shorts will benefit them no matter which sport(s) they love to play.
Many online and brick and mortar retailers sell these shorts and for as little as $30-$50 you can outfit your child with a great pair of protective padded compression shorts.
Don't let them get another scrape or bruise that could have been avoided if the were wearing padded shorts.
