Giving something you or your children have made by hand to each person on your Christmas list not only will teach them that not all things should be purchased, but will keep your budget from flying out the window.   Not all Christmas gifts have to cost an arm and a leg to produce. Use what you have to create something spectacular. Find all those scraps of yarn or material that you have leftover from other projects and knit, crochet or sew something great. Even old clothes can be cut up and made into rag rugs. Whether you make a multi-colored scarf, some fanciful socks or a cute throw to cuddle up in, the most it will cost is your time.
  
  

Beads, Baubles and More

  The holidays sparkle with colorful beads and crystals. Add to the glitter and glam by creating some great beaded decorations. Make earrings that shine with crystals and beads left over from another project. Create table decorations using wire and beads to make napkin rings or buttons and beads to create snowman guaranteed not to melt if hung too close to the lights on a tree.
  
  Don't limit yourself to jewelry or ornaments. Pick up some inexpensive slippers or sandals and embellish them with crystals and beads. Create your own stylish footwear to give as gifts.
  
  

Paper and Glue

• Create some interesting pieces with paper and glue. Find some inexpensive boxes or photo frames and decoupage different pictures and words you find in any newspaper or magazine. Use any scraps of wrapping or scrapbook paper you have to add color and design. Fill the box with handmade candies or cookies or place an old family photo in the frame.
