How to Reformat a Dell Hard Drive With Windows ME
- 1). Insert your Windows ME floppy disk into the floppy disk slot on your computer. Click the "Start" button and select "Restart" in the menu that pops up.
- 2). Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to highlight "Start computer without CD-ROM support" when the Windows ME menu displays. Hit the "Enter" key on your keyboard to continue.
- 3). Type in "format c: /s" (without quotes) at the black "Command Prompt" screen once it becomes visible. Hit the "Y" key on your keyboard to confirm that you would like to format your Dell HDD. Press the "Enter" key to begin this process. Windows will automatically reformat the Dell HDD using the Windows ME disk.
- 4). Hit "Enter" on your keyboard when you see the "Volume label (11 characters, ENTER for none)?" message on your monitor. The Dell hard drive will now be completely reformatted.
