How to Wind a Weed Trimmer
- 1). Place the weed trimmer on a flat and level surface that allows for easy access to the trimming line head. Put on a pair of gloves and remove the spark plug wire from the end of the spark plug to prevent accidental starting.
- 2). Remove old trimmer line from the trimmer head. Pull the glide plate from the bottom of the trimmer head and clear any old remaining line. Remove any debris, such as accumulations of dirt, from inside the cutting head.
- 3). Place the glide plate back into the cutting head by aligning the arrow on the plate with the letter "A" on the cutting head.
- 4). Locate the two small holes on the side of the cutting head. Fold a cut length of trimmer line in half forming a U shape. Insert the ends of the trimmer line into the holes so that each end of the U is positioned in a hole.
- 5). Push down on the U of the trimmer line to force the line through the tunnels and out the side of the cutting head. Grasp the ends of the trimmer line and pull to tighten the U of the trimmer line against the side of the cutting head. Adjust the line extending from the the head so that the lengths are equal.
- 6). Place the spark plug wire back onto the end of the spark plug before attempting to operate the weed trimmer.
