The Secret (and Not So Secret) Fountain of Youth

103 229
Everyone has a feature or two that they'd like to change.
While many people are reluctant to admit having plastic surgery, a variety of facial plastic surgery procedures are being sought on the sly every day.
For example, dermal fillers, injectable products such as Juvederm, Radiesse, Perlane and Restylane, have been a popular method of plumping up thin and wrinkled lips for years.
Botox is another popular cosmetic procedure enjoyed by those who wish to discreetly turn back the hands of time.
The procedure is becoming so commonplace that people are more inclined to admit they've had it.
Not that you'd have to.
Surgery-free and done in the privacy of your doctor's office, Botox injections relax facial muscles, allowing fine lines to fade and your skin to smooth.
A regular target of these injections are the "11" lines that form between your eyebrows as you get older.
Fine lines at the corners of your eyes can be softened as well.
Alternative drugs with actions similar to Botox include Dysport and, most recently, Xeomin.
The tweaking of features doesn't end at the lips and brow.
Your nose can get into the act as well.
A nose job, or rhinoplasty, can decrease self-consciousness or repair a nasal injury.
A deviated septum can also be repaired with rhinoplasty.
However, unlike injectables, the effects of rhinoplasty are typically obvious.
Whether the effect is the dramatic reduction of a prominent bump or the thinning of the nasal tip, the center-stage position of the nose on the face makes almost any change impossible to deny.
Many would attest that the benefits are worth the disclosure.
The same could be said when it comes to a facelift.
It's difficult to keep dramatic changes hush-hush.
Facelifts are typically reserved for that time when injectables like fillers and Botox are no longer able to keep up with telltale sags, bags and creases.
The surgical tightening of muscles and removal of excess skin creates numerous age-defying changes in your appearance.
The average age range for a facelift is 50 to 65, although the procedure is also performed on people much younger and older.
If you're considering cosmetic intervention, perusing before and after pics can be a great way to gather information.
Looking at actual results gives you an idea about changes you'd like to make and possible options.
Determine your personal cutoff point, too.
There's a line between a good thing and too much of a good thing.
