Serato Scratch Live is a computer software and hardware package that allows disc jockeys (DJs) to incorporate personal computers into their live performances and recording environments. Serato Scratch Live comes with an optional hardware device designed to emulate the vinyl record scratching DJ's turntable. The rhythmic precision of using such a controller means that the computer hosting the Serato Scratch Live program must be fast and strong enough to handle such hardware accuracy. - Currently, there is no version of Serato Scratch Live available for Linux operating systems. The requirements for Windows and Mac differ slightly, but those listed for both are simply minimum requirements. If Mac, the user must have a version of OS X 10.3.9 or later. If Windows, the user must have Windows 7, Vista or XP with Service Pack 2 installed. Serato also recommends using processors made by Intel.
- Windows users must have an Intel processor of 1.5 GHz or higher, while Mac users need a one GHz G4 processor. One GB of RAM is absolutely necessary, but for users with a larger audio library, more RAM will increase performance.
- To use the digital turntable accessory that comes with Serato Scratch Live, users must have an extra USB port available. If using Serato Scratch Live 3, this must be a USB 2.0 port. For both Mac and Windows, a screen resolution of 1024x768 is required.
