How to Decorate a Cake With a "Tangled" Movie Theme

    • 1). Prepare a cake mix, according to its instructions. Grease the inside of a large, oven-safe bowl. Pour the batter into the bowl. The batter should fill about two-thirds of the bowl. Bake the cake at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for about 35 minutes. Check that the cake is thoroughly cooked by inserting a toothpick in the center. It's ready when it comes out clean.

    • 2). Remove the bowl from the oven and let it cool on the stove top for 30 minutes. Tip over the bowl onto the cake tray. Remove the cake from the bowl. Let the cake cool to room temperature.

    • 3). Use the icing spatula to apply a layer of buttercream icing on the cake. Transfer the cake to the refrigerator to cool for 20 minutes. Place it back on your work surface.

    • 4). Use the icing spatula to apply another layer of the icing on the cake.

    • 5). Cut a small hole at the top, center of the cake with a knife. Slide a plastic, hairless doll into the cake. Push the doll into the hole and down into the cake until you reach its waist.

    • 6). Drop a star icing tip into the pastry bag, fill the bag with the same buttercream icing used for the cake and squeeze to make icing stars on the doll to create her bodice.

    • 7). Put the yellow fondant in the pasta machine. Set the machine to spaghetti or linguini. Make the pasta shape from the fondant.

    • 8). Lay the spaghetti-like pieces of fondant on wax paper. Cut a few pieces very short to make bangs. Press those short pieces together side by side.

    • 9). Lay the remaining pieces of fondant end to end against the bangs. Moisten the ends and press them together to keep the length of fondant hair attached to the bangs.

      Pick up the fondant hair carefully and lay it on top of the doll's head, with the fondant bangs over the top of her forehead. Arrange the long fondant hair down her body and then coil it around the edible dress.
