How to Check for Tread Wear on a Tire on an Acura Integra
- 1). Look at your tires to see if there is a "TWI" inscription on the sidewall, with an arrow that points to the direction of the tread. This is the tread wear indicator and is barely visible in the tread of the tire. When your tire tread is worn to this point, you'll have a band across the tire with no tread on it at this point. If your tread has worn to this point on your Integra tires, then it's time for a change.
- 2). Buy a tread wear gauge from your local automotive store if your tires do not have a "TWI" indication. You may find this next to the tire gauges or by the valve stem replacement parts.
- 3). Get close to the ground and insert the tread wear gauge into the crease of the tread, and make sure you fully engage the tread wear gauge spring. Measure the depth of the tread across the entire width of the tire and take note of the smallest tread wear measurement.
- 4). Compare this measurement to your state department of transportation's legal tread depth specification for your Acura's tires.
- 5). Check the measurement and comparison for each of the four tires. If any of the tires show excessive wear, take your Acura Integra to a tire shop and get the set of tires replaced that shows the wear with 195/60-14 sized tires.
