DIY Letterpress Wedding Invitations
- 1). Prepare the rubber stamp. If your rubber stamp you're using has a foam back between the wood and the rubber stamp design, remove this foam backing in order to create the letterpress motif of the wedding invitations.
- 2). Sketch the design. Cut a blank sheet of plain white printer paper to the same dimensions as your 100 percent cotton precut wedding invitations. Use this as a mock-up invitation where you can use your pencil to sketch the design you want to create with your rubber stamps and where the invitation verse will go.
- 3). Practice making a few sample invitations. Since letterpress wedding invitations can be expensive, practice your design on the plain white paper until you finalize the design.
- 4). Stamp the design onto the cotton wedding invitation paper. Once you have your design finalized, dip the rubber stamp in the ink color of your choice and stamp the design onto the wedding invitation. Apply sufficient pressure so that the ink fully transfers from the stamp to the paper, hard enough to leave the slight indent in the invitation that makes it a letterpress design.
- 5). Dry the ink overnight. Once you finish the design on one invitation, place the paper with the ink facing up and allow it to dry for at least 24 hours before adding the wedding invitation verse and running the invitation through your printer to complete the design.
