How to Connect an HD-DVR to a DVD & a Surround Sound System
- 1). Locate the "HDMI in" socket on the DVD and surround system's AV surround receiver .

Using an HDMI cable of appropriate length, connect the DVR's "HDMI out" socket to the "HDMI in" socket on the AV surround receiver. - 3

Turn on the DVR, the AV surround receiver and the television.
Switch the receiver to the setting which allows you to watch cable/satellite TV.
If your TV has more than one HDMI in socket make sure the correct HDMI source is selected on the TV. - 4

Use the DVR remote to switch channels and view the channel guide to make sure it is operating properly through the DVD and surround system. Choose any channel and press "Record" to record several minutes of content.
Stop the recording after several minutes and use the DVR remote to find the content you recorded. Press "Play" on the remote to view the content you recorded. - 5

Once the system is working, use the DVD and surround system remote to switch between the different surround modes available. Some examples of surround modes are Stadium, Concert Hall, Movie, Dolby 5.1 and Stereo.
