I always suffer from the worst chapped skin thanks to New York winters, and both my husband and I get chapped lips from the cold, frigid air, so when I read rave reviews about Buckler's Lip Remedy and their Chapped Skin Remedy -- mainly from guys who were going crazy for this stuff -- I had to test them out for myself. I got Nick to try them, too. 

What do we think? We think we're obsessed.

Review of Buckler's Chapped Skin Remedy

Buckler's hand remedy is hands (haha) down, the best unisex skin quencher I've tried.


It moisturizes the skin without leaving it greasy like so many healing ointments on the market. Before this, I used Eucerin Hand Creme, which is also great, but Bucklers is even richer than Eucerin. It's best used on super dry spots, such as the hands and elbows. I also like that it doesn't have an obvious fragrance, which means it won't compete with any fragrance I might be using.

It would make the perfect gift or stocking stuffer for an active person like my husband, who is big into skiing and the outdoors and prefers cold weather to hot. In fact, according to the Buckler's website, their products were formulated for active snowboarders, skiers, carpenters and sculptors.

Don't be fooled by reviews saying this is "for men." Buckler's products are truly unisex, despite some early marketing targeted to men.

Review of Bucklers Lip Remedy

As for the lip remedy, it goes on thickly, protects lips from the harsh winter elements and fits right in the purse or your husband's backpack or briefcase.

It would be perfect for a day of skiing and it makes a wonderful stocking stuffer.

I recommend exfoliating lips before using any lip balm. Slather Vaseline on your lips and then brush them with an old toothbrush. You can also create a lip exfoliant made from brown sugar and olive oil, applying it to lips and massaging them in a circular motion. If you are really short on time, you can exfoliate lips with a washcloth. Apply lip balm afterwards.
