You have seen them on the city streets; the bold stylish stores that will not be there the next morning. The trend of the pop-up store is spreading across America and Europe. It started at the end of the 1990s and continued to pick during the 2000s. This revolutionary sales approach started in California - it has been spreading like wildfire around the world and all kinds of companies are using it. From music retailers to fashion shops and technology companies, virtually everyone has taken interest in this innovative retail opportunity.

There has been a rise in the use of pop up retail in the recent years. Almost every company with retailing interests is keen on using this approach. What is even better is that it has become cheaper. Many entrepreneurs have since started companies that specialize in temporary retail spaces. These companies offer firms low-cost spaces in strategic areas to sell their products. This way every firm, small or large, can afford a few days of a pop-up store.

Innovative startups want to spread this unique experience and they are targeting online retailers and independent designers for their temporary retail space products. This group of firms does not have physical storefronts that consumers can visit but courtesy of these stores they actually experience the benefits of this approach to retail, including the chance to allow consumers to test their new products. There is also an added benefit of reduced overhead costs, which would otherwise be incurred by renting long-term space. Customers visiting these stores are able to touch and hold products they would otherwise only see online or view in a store window.

Some experts view the pop up retail revolution as a sign that companies now have to create outstanding experiences for consumers in order to build loyalty. The market is shifting from just selling goods in stores to the value customers experience insides stores. The pop-up store is flexible and can change appearance in short periods. Startups are taking advantage of this to create memorable events for their corporate clients. Since the store is temporary they are free to create daring designs guaranteed to attract the most customers.

Startups are also targeting holidays as prime time for sporadic retail. People typically take their families out for shopping and spend lavishly during the holiday seasons such as Halloween and Christmas. A temporary store will no doubt perform well when foot traffic is high.

Pop up retail is innovative and startups are inventive companies with fewer restrictions on imagination and daring projects. This makes for perfect coupling.
